Operations Technician

Job Description:

Diagnose, identify the cause and resolve incidents on the network, affecting or not affecting commercial and residential customer services. In this context, also provide the information and technical assistance necessary to resolve the problem with all stakeholders (including internal and external partners and suppliers).

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform required technical interventions on the various equipment on all technological platforms in order to restore service to Videotron customers, and thus ensure optimum reliability and availability of their services.
• Provide direct support to the various Videotron operational groups.
• Diagnose, identify the cause and solve complex or recurring operational problems.
• Execute certain operations during planned change controls as well as by performing various functionality tests on network elements and customer services.
• Identify the human resources required for technical operations aimed at resolving network incidents.
• Participate in the testing and production of new engineering technologies.
• Create network tickets and assign assistance tasks to the various operations groups involved according to established criteria.
• Carry out ad hoc technical monitoring or post-implementation of planned changes to production networks.
• Manage, from a technical point of view, crises or major incidents.

Job Requirements:

• Demonstrate communication skills;
• Have a spirit of analysis and synthesis;
• Know digital and RF communications systems;
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of equipment monitoring methods;
• Ability to master computerized management systems (Knowledge of Remedy an asset);
• Have a very good knowledge of the layers of the OSI model;
• Knowledge of telecommunications and IT architectures;
• Have very good knowledge of TCP/IP technology;
