Job Description:
The Credit Supervisor will work closely with their Director in managing the Credit team and its various responsibilities. The Credit team is accountable for credit accounts in their portfolio, including standardizing treatment of accounts, accounts centralization, consistent application of credit policies, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of creditworthiness of potential customers, with the expectation of optimizing CMU A/R DSOs and % current while minimizing bad debt losses.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing training of the Credit staff and Sales staff
- Approval and maintenance of credit to customer accounts
- Perform in-depth financial analysis utilizing customer/potential customer financial statements to assess applicant’s financial standing and credit¬worthiness
- Timely cash collection of AR portfolio to maintain working capital targets
- Communicate with sales department to ensure efficient and consistent order to cash processes, while maximizing objectives of the organization
- Review and analyze external credit and trade reports to assess customer’s standing within the industry
- Maintenance of accounts, ¬including credit review analysis of creditworthiness of potential customers with the goal of optimizing company sales and minimizing bad debt losses
- Initiate and direct the collection of accounts receivable in assigned portfolio coordinating efforts with sales management and customer to minimize losses and reach optimal financial resolution
Job Requirements:
- Completion or in the process of receiving CCP Designation is preferred
- Thorough knowledge of credit-related laws across Canada
- College diploma in Accounting or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years of credit and collections experience in a fast paced and large company setting; previous supervisory experience preferred
- Ability to deal with difficult situations and/or people
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience with credit scoring systems preferred
- Effective business writing, professional communication, negotiation and organizational skills
