Job Description:
We are looking for an Instrumentation Technologist, Aerodynamics to support our Aerospace Research Centre. The Instrumentation Technologist, Aerodynamics would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Working as an Instrumentation Technologist, you will provide support to client research and technology development campaigns, facility upgrades, calibrations, and maintenance as part of the Montreal Road Facilities Group of the Aerodynamics Laboratory.
- You will fabricate and install electronic systems required for the Laboratory’s projects and will be required to support the experimental testing needs of the Laboratory, manufacture and install instrumentation cabling, purchase electronic components, maintain the electronics lab, and on occasion participate in new internal development projects.
- You will be expected to maintain knowledge of current instrumentation system technology and instrumentation trends, including cabling, wiring, and soldering best practices
- You will be responsible for working closely with other Operations team members, the Facility Support Group and the Facility Development Group, and research staff members to support the Wind Tunnel Operations, Maintenance/Repairs and Calibration of test equipment and transducers.
Job Requirements:
- Basic experience operating machinery such as forklifts, elevated platforms and/or overhead cranes; and
- Significant experience in troubleshooting, developing, implementing and documenting solutions, calibration and data interpretation for complex instrumentation systems, transducers and equipment;
- Diploma from a 3-year post-secondary Engineering Technology program or Applied Science Technology program in electronics, instrumentation or other related field. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may also be considered.
- Significant experience in independently carrying out a wide range of complex work such as installing, maintaining, configuring and operating modern electronics, instrumentation, data acquisition systems and motion control systems, including associated wiring and fabrication of cable harnesses;
- Significant and recent experience working with Microsoft Offices software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
- Basic experience in programming fundamentals and in working with laboratory software such as NI Labview and C;
- Basic experience interpreting mechanical and/or electrical drawings.
