Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Director will be responsible for managing the financial and human resources dedicated to delivering the Programming. This role will establish and maintain productive relationships with relevant stakeholders, partners and funders in the community. The Director will work closely with the Academic Director to design and deliver flagship programs including the Growth Catalyst, Innovation Accelerator and the Growth and Resilience Speaker Series, as well as identify new opportunities to fulfill the mission of the Institute.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design a long-term sustainable business and operations model.
- Protect and enhance the reputation of Mount Royal University.
- Establish and manage an annual budget that delivers on the mission of the Programming, funder commitments, and financial sustainability.
- Foster partnerships with key players in the ecosystem.
- Embrace meaningful metrics and operational best practices to ensure efficient and consistent delivery and impact of programs.
- Engage with post secondary institutions to deliver on student internship outcomes.
- Engage directly with clients to ensure client satisfaction.
- Focus on delivering exceptional value to clients, funders and other stakeholders.
- Manage the reporting and engagement requirements of funders and other stakeholders.
- Identify and nurture potential funding partners.
- Ensure diversity, equity and inclusion are embedded in the culture of the Programming..
- Work with the Academic Director to establish a 5-year strategic plan for Scale-up and Growth Programming.
- Engage the MRU executive to raise the internal profile of the Programming.
- Establish contractual relationships with best-in-class contractors on delivery of programs.
- Be recognized as an action-oriented thought leader in the broader community.
- Recruit and manage the core operations team including marketing, program management and ecosystem management resources.
Job Requirements:
- Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated experience in fostering collaborations and partnerships, including funding partners.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Evidence of an entrepreneurial mindset including identifying opportunities, mitigating risk, developing and launching solutions, measuring results and iterating.
- Communication Skills: Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: 10 years of experience supporting businesses to achieve their growth ambitions.
- Operational Skills: Ability to build operating models, manage budgets and develop and motivate a high-performing team.
