Senior Underwriter

Job Description:

As a Senior Underwriter you will be responsible for underwriting contract surety accounts by reviewing and interpreting financial statements and conducting financial and credit risk analysis in order to make appropriate decisions within own underwriting authority.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse portfolio of contract surety accounts
• Analyse and secure underwriting data, perform financial analysis and apply critical thinking on underwriting decisions and client relationship issues
• Assess risk and appropriately recommend approval of new and renewing contract surety facilities
• Build partnerships with brokers and clients, delivering surety solutions at the account level in a professional and responsive manner
• Develop broker relationships and marketing strategies to further new business development opportunities
• Prioritize workflow to maximize productivity and meet deadlines
• Assist in the preparation and submission of special acceptances to reinsurers

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance
• 5+ years of contract surety underwriting experience
• Solid understanding of financial statements
• Strong analytical and research skills
