Job Description:

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Learning Systems Services, the Educational Technologist is responsible for the daily operation of the College’s Learning Management System, FanshaweOnline and related learning systems e.g. Turnitin.com. Responsible for the planning, testing, configuring and scheduling of new system releases, service packs, LMS server add-ons and system programming work associated with maintaining and expanding the LMS automation and integration with third-party systems. Troubleshoots complex technical issues and interacts with learning systems vendors, backend system infrastructure staff, and other technical staff to devise problem resolution.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The Educational Technologist plans, develops, coordinates and delivers FOL orientation sessions for new students, high-level systems training for the FOL Administrators and technical training for student volunteers in the FOL Ambassador program.
  • Training is provided in a variety of formats: in-class, group, 1-on-1 and online.

  • Proven project coordination skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Post-secondary 3-year Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Computer Technology/Science or Educational Technology or related field
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ technically competent (including system administration) experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Desire2Learn,
  • Moodle etc.) and related learning technologies (e.g. Blackboard Collaborate) in higher education environments
  • Experience and understanding of developments in e-learning technology (including open source) and standards (i.e. learning tool interoperability) and their application to the teaching and learning process
