Job Description:
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for the project objectives and the overall success of the project. This role maintains progress, budgets, quality and stakeholder communications in a proactive manner to reduce project risks. This role requires the incumbent to have in-depth construction project management knowledge and extensive experience to manage complex or struggling projects as well as leadership and strategic thinking skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement and evaluation of projects within BPS procurement policy
- Review cost estimates against project budgets and implement cost saving measures where necessary
- Analyze scope of projects and write RFx’s for tender
- Creates and manages budgets, resources, timelines and quality
- Establish realistic goals by developing appropriate strategies
- Manage vendors to develop needs assessments, plans, drawings, specifications and cost estimates
- Track, monitor and manage project progress; proactively identify and mitigate obstacles that impact project deliverables
- Perform reviews and comments on the accuracy and completeness of plans, drawings and specifications
Job Requirements:
- Successfully obtained or working towards an architectural license from the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) or Professional Engineering license from Professional Engineers Ontario (P. Eng.)
- 7+ years of managing and delivering multiple large-scale construction projects from beginning to end within time and budget
- Advanced proficiency with using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); MS Project and Visio experience is an asset
- Excellent ability to develop effective client relationships and possess a high ability to influence and negotiate
- Project Management Professional certification is preferred (PMP)
- Must have in-depth construction project management knowledge and extensive experience to manage complex or struggling projects as well as leadership and strategic thinking skills. 5+ years in a supervisory capacity, including managing consultants and contractors
- Experience administering consultant and construction contracts such as OAA 600, ACEC-31 and CCDC-2020 and knowledge of the Construction Lien Act
- 4-year degree in Architecture and/or Engineering; combined years of experience and relevant education will be considered
