Job Description:
The Deputy Cabinet Secretary is responsible for oversight of the management of Cabinet’s various agendas by providing strategic advice to the Cabinet Secretary on items requiring review by Cabinet and its Committees. The Deputy Cabinet Secretary is also responsible for ensuring that staff and systems function to effectively support Cabinet and Cabinet Committee decision making, and the development and delivery of government’s legislative agenda.
Job Responsibilities:
- The Deputy Cabinet Secretary serves as the point of contact for Deputy Ministers and Assistant Deputy Ministers and offers strategic advice on corporate priorities; acts as liaison between Cabinet Committees, Committee Chairs and the Premier’s Office provides oversight of Cabinet and Committee agenda planning and management and the coordinating and reviewing of submissions, including advice to ministries on the format and content of their submissions. the reviewing and analysing of legislative proposals to support the development and delivery of government’s legislative agenda, and oversees the progress and direction of Cabinet and Cabinet Committees to ensure alignment with government’s strategic direction.
- Reporting to the Cabinet Secretary and Deputy Minister to the Premier, the Deputy Cabinet Secretary is a key leadership position within Cabinet Operations that supports the work of Cabinet and its committees, and Cabinet Operations staff who support these key entities and functions.
- The Deputy Cabinet Secretary provides leadership on a wide range of strategic, challenging and confidential issues requiring agility and rapid, sound responses.
