Job Description:

As a professional member of the Business Operations and Negotiations team in Indigenous Relations (IR), manages a number of large, diverse, complex and high risk projects and assumes responsibility for their successful completion. The projects will be diverse but they will typically involve addressing reconciliation related matters, and advancing departmental goals. The successful applicant will work with subject matter experts (SMEs) and the IR leadership team to develop and implement work plans and report on results that support BC Hydro’s Indigenous Relations strategy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the financial and administrative aspects of agreement implementation and provides guidance to regional teams.
  • Manages implementation of the project within agreed upon scope, timeline and budget. Provides regular progress update to the team and management.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with senior management.
  • Develops project plans and strategies for various initiatives, including scope, budget, schedule and project team responsibilities in order to accomplish project objectives.
  • Ensures that internal and external resources with appropriate skill sets are provided, assigns work and provides instructions, advice and leadership to project staff; reviews work in progress and assesses completed work for accuracy, required results and quality.

Job Requirements:

  • BC Hydro employees will be required to provide proof they are fully vaccinated.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills.
  • The individual will possess a strong background in project management and negotiating, preferably involving Indigenous Nations.
  • Project Management/ Results orientation/ Persuasive Influence/ Resourcefulness/ Initiative/ Strategic Thinking.
  • A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain your Driver’s License: Class 5 in good standing.
  • University undergraduate degree in a related discipline or combination of relatable experience and education.
  • Communication skills/ Leadership/ Change Management/ Detail Orientation/ Conflict Resolution.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance in building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous Nations; cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity; communications; strategic and tactical planning; analysis and critical thinking; creativity and innovation in problem solving.
  • Understanding of BCH Business and Ops or business and operations of the public utility sector.
  • This role may involve occasional travel within the province.
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in a business environment including experience in managing multiple programs or projects that entail advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Nations within the natural resource/energy sector.
